(at the end...) FINAL artwork project on child labor

In the end, I'd chosen my first draft.
which is this...

use brush to paint first

cement outside my house (used as the wall in the project)
cement pic 2 (used as the floor in the project)
the little boy

the mask

use liquify tool

use liquify tool 2

the words that used

add all together

but, it seems there are something still lacking... the message is not strong enough...

after discuss with the lecturer, I decided to put a simple image inside the monster in order to emphasize the message.
a simple "stick man" image that created by using ellipse tool and rectangle tool
and the whip was made up by the wrap tool and add anchor point tool
add into the monster
the wall is too bright and couldn't show the terror atmosphere that i wanted... so I painted it become darker

FINAL ARTWORK~~

I did some blurring on the picture to cover the trace...

this artwork mainly emphasize on the feeling of horror and helplessness of the children who being sold as labor. It's like a nightmare who never ends and it will keep hunting the child.

Artwork project on child labor

When i think of child labor issue, immediately I had a vision in my head: a boy aged around 5, carrying heavy objects (ie: bricks or tons of shoes) and rich people (holding cash, dress in expensive suit and show their enjoyment) on his thin shoulders.

In many countries such as India, child labor is a serious issue. Although there are organizations (ie: World Vision) working on reducing the number of child being sold by their parents, but unfortunately, the number still increasing. This make people feel frustrated. Because of low education level and poverty, children has to be in a part of labor market, this make me feel unpleasant and also sad.

well, enough of talking. below are pictures that i got inspiration from.

other than expressing the unnecessary burden that the child carry, I also want to express the suffer, the difficulties that hunting the children. Hence, below is the idea.

the monster... a bit too cute...
besides, I've been thinking, what's the world like from the perspective of the children who started to work in their young age? is it fear? horror? hatred? depressed? sadness? or helpless? before provides help to other, we have to put ourselves into their shoes... in order to know how to help them...
in the poster, the primary color I plan to use are black, white and grey. these color will be use to show the contrast or highlight the image that express the message of the feeling of helpless of the children.
furthermore, I plan to use my brother's picture as the children's face...

something like this...
in the end, i tried something different from the last 2 sketches... i planned to use 2 children : one clean and well-taking care of and another one is construction worker, this is to show the contrast of children of different lifestyle. With this contrast, i hope can show the importance of stopping child labor.
let's try and see how it's goes...
the background...
color the child... (hmm.. something wrong)
add some words...
oh no!! the girl didn't cut properly !
add some effect

combined~

finished!

 BUT WAIT!

I'm not satisfy with this! too childish and it's different with the picture in my head... hmm... have to change plan and do another one...

surrealism exercise

the symbol of nobility, elegant, luxury and mysterious

There was a color, as the last color of the rainbow, the color that has the lowest frequency, the color that represent the royal families and was restricted from civilian, the color that once was the best selling products in trading market of Phoenicia- an ancient civilization... this color has a long history and great influence on poetry, culture, and economy.

The reason that I was attracted by this color was easy - its uniqueness. Its between enthusiasm and calm, it don't belong to either side but it has the trait of both sides, therefore it has a sense of mystery. And usually intelligent and talented people favorite this color. That was another reason for a kid to favorite a color.

Other than this, I found that this color could express different concept brilliantly. For example...

elegant of ladies (fineartamerica.com)
sadness (expressivecolor.blogspot.com)
time passed (ebsqart.com)
naive
hope...
romance (fineartamerica.com)
Well, that's the end...

my preferred way of expression

Since this subject was about design, so it will relate with art. My definition of art is the way of expression through lines, colors, shapes, and other visual tools in simple, direct forms.
abstract art (rebeccabessettle.com)

When I'm google-ing about abstract art, I was attracted by these few drawings. The drawings used contrasted color to present the vitality of life - good and bad, lightness and darkness- that we couldn't avoid.

naive art (en.artoffer.com)
furthermore, I found that I like naive art. I had a few picture books which the amount of pictures are more than words. I feel that pictures can "say" more than words do. For example, the picture above may say about freedom, dream of reaching the moon, or friendships. It's depends on the each individual's perspective...

I also found Minimalism was also consistent with my own concept towards arts. Minimalism is any design/style that used the simplest and fewest elements to create maximum effect. Somehow I feel stressed when seeing some drawings that contained many elements in it.This movement advocate to express by using the nature form of elements, without any polish.

In conclusion, I got to know more about the ways of expression due to these researches on art movement and have some idea on how to express the issue of child labor. (Well, sort of.. XD)
